Notes of the Signs of the Second Coming

So here are my notes...

"Throughout the ages God has revealed these signs to His prophets. He has said that all faithful followers of Christ will know what the signs are and will be watching for them. If we are obedient and faithful, we will study the scriptures and know of the signs."

Headings from Lesson...

Wickedness, Wars and Turmoil
What to expect...earthquakes, disease, famines, great storms, lightnings, and thunder...and hailstorms will destroy the crops of the earth. (All the rest are already happening...every year I watch for this great hailstorm for when it happens it will be too late to prepare.) We are in perilous times..."We can be certain that these calamities will become more severe before the Lord comes."

Not all Signs of the Times are dreadful...there are happy signs too...

Prophecy of Joel

Prophecy of Joel President Joseph F. Smith, GC, April 1966

The words of the prophets are rapidly being fulfilled, but it is done on such natural principles that most of us fail to see it. Joel promised that the Lord would pour out his spirit upon all flesh: the sons and daughters should prophesy, old men should dream dreams, and young men should see visions. Wonders in heaven and in the earth would be seen, and there would be fire, blood, and pillars of smoke. Eventually the sun is to be turned into darkness and the moon as blood and then shall come the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Some of these signs have been given; some are yet to come. The sun has not yet been darkened. We are informed that this will be one of the last acts just preceding the coming of the Lord.

Shortly after 9/11, President Hinckley said, “The vision of Joel has been fulfilled wherein he declared, “And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall b…

A Dream worth Contemplating.

I would like to relate an experience shared with me many years ago by a close friend, which brought to me a meaningful measure of personal motivation to follow the Lord's counsel to be prepared. Hopefully, it will touch your heart similarly to the way it touched mine.

Many years ago Kenneth Holbrook, an older high priest in my Sacramento, California Ward, approached me regarding a dream he has experience which left him very perplexed. The dream seemed so real to him that he has been unable to dismiss it; consequently he felt a need to share it. The following is what he related to me, to the best of my recollection.

In this dream Ken found himself in what profoundly impressed him as being a real-life situation. At the outset, he observed members of the church anxiously engaged in making preparations to leave their homes because a directive had been received from Church He…

Elder Bednar's comments

We had a regional meeting broadcast from the Conference Center and Elder Bednar spoke for 45 minutes. Key points were that we needed to move past a testimony to true conversion. He used the 10 virgins as an analogy saying that the uprepared had a testimony but that the prepared virgins were converted to Christ.

Several speakers, including Elder Bednar, said that we were living in tough times and that things would grow darker and more confused; but that we didn't need to worry.
