Bill O'Reilly: Warning to Americans....America projected to collapse. (2...

So as the shutters of human history begin to close as if before a gathering storm, and as events scurry across the human scene like so many leaves before a wild wind-those who stand before thewarm glow of the gospel fire can be permitted a shiver of the soul. Yet in our circle of certitude, we know, even in the midst of all these things, that there will be no final frustration of God's purposes. God has known "all things from the beginning, wherefore, he prepareth a way to accomplish all his works among the children of men." (1 Ne. 9:6.) (Ensign, November 1981, p. 10.)

We are living in a time in which we shall see things both wonderful and awful. There is no way that we can be a part of the last days and have it otherwise. Even so, we are instructed by our Lord and Exemplar, Jesus Christ, to "be of good cheer." (D&C 61:36; 78:18.) (Ensign, November 1982, p. 66.)

Today, the assembled agonies of the world pass in reminding review on the nightly news. (Ensign, May 1988, p. 8.)

The last days will be rampant with the cardinal sins, just "as in the days of Noah." Society in the days of Noah, scriptures advise, was "corrupt before God" and "filled with violence." (Gen. 6:11-12; Moses 8:28.) Corruption and violence-sound familiar? Both of these awful conditions crest because of surging individual selfishness. When thus engulfed, no wonder men's hearts in our day will fail them because of fear. (See Luke 21:26; D&C 45:26.) Even the faithful can expect a few fibrillations. (Ensign, November 1990, p. 14.)
The challenge is surviving spiritually in a deteriorating "wheat and tares" world. [D&C 86:7. Granted, occasionally a few defectors or dissidents may try to vex us as they hyperventilate over their particular concerns, but it is the engulfing effects of thatdeteriorating world on Church members which is the "clear and present danger." "Evils and designs" really do operate through "conspiring [individuals] in the last days." (D&C 89:4.) The Lord has even announced, "Behold, the enemy is combined." (D&C 38:12.) (Ensign, May 1993, p. 76.)
189Even during these difficult times, members "armed with righteousness" can do so many things. (1 Ne. 14:14.) We can have love at home, even though the love of many waxes cold in the world. (See Matt. 24:12.) We can have inner peace even though peace has been taken from the earth. (See D&C 1:35.) … We can stand fast "in holy places," even though in the world "all things shall be in commotion." (D&C 45:32; 88:91.) (Ensign, May 1993, p. 79.)

In the days ahead, "all things shall be in commotion" (D&C 88:91). We may even have nostalgia for past days of obscurity (see D&C 1:30). Amid a drumroll of developments, complex and converging world conditions will bring both trials and opportunities. Faithful Church members, however, will sense the crescendo in it all, even while being carried forward on the crest of breathtaking circumstances. (Ensign, November 1993, p. 20.)

There is the increasing presence of choice and talent-laden spirits sent [to earth] now because of what each can add to the symphony of salvation. (Deposition of a Disciple, p. 63.)

An avalanche of apocalyptic advice from secular prophets swirls about young and old alike; there is an abundance of earnest Paul Reveres who warn us about what is coming, or is already here. (A Time to Choose, p. 2.)

We need not be naive about the impending realities in the prophecies, but let us not run to the foothills too soon. (A Time to Choose, p. 10.)

Surely those of us who live in the last days cannot expect to be immune from the sufferings and feelings that war produces. We hope, however, that we can resist the coarsening effects of war and its tendency to rob us of any progress made in developing mercy, meekness, justice, and so forth. (Even As I Am, p. 106.)
